Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter ‘Fratelli Tutti’ on Human Fraternity and Social Friendship
Pope Francis’ third Encyclical Letter “Fratelli tutti’ on Fraternity and Social Friendship, was published today, Oct. 4, 2020, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi.
This Encyclical was inspired by St. Francis, like the Pontiff’s second Encyclical Laudato Si, on the Care of Our Common Home, marking the first Encyclical of a Catholic Pope on ecology. The “Social Encyclical,” as the Pontiff describes it, borrows the title of the “Admonitions” of Saint Francis of Assisi, who used these words to “address his brothers and sisters and proposed to them a way of life marked by the flavor of the Gospel.”` |
Pope Francis challenges us to sign the Laudato Si' pledge. Have you signed yet? Check the pledge out here!
"Living our vocation to be protectors of God's handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience." (217) |
