The new National Minister writes: "Dear sisters and brothers, I am writing to inform you that, during today's elective session of the National Chapter of the Secular Franciscan Order of Canada, I was elected as National Minister. Since the office of minister at two levels is incompatible, I have resigned as minister of our local fraternity of St. Francis of Assisi in Cornwall, PEI. The Vice-Minister of our fraternity, Ruth Cassidy, will assume the duties of minister of our fraternity, effective immediately. I am also pleased to inform you that Marion Clorey, also a member of St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity, was elected as Vice-Minister for Canada's anglophone regions. Finally, I would like to inform you that Michel David, our Regional Minister, was elected as Canada's International Councillor. The other members of the new National Council are listed below with the accompanying photo. Please pray for me and for the newly elected National Council that we will have the strength and courage to fulfill our responsibilities in the service of the Secular Franciscan Order in Canada. Wishing you peace and all that is good. Doug Clorey, ofs Note: In addition to the eastern members noted above, Harvey Leveques, Edmunston (former member of John XXIII fraternity), was also elected. This makes for a strong representation from the east. Congratulations to the new Council! It was a wonderful fraternal weekend with beautiful Franciscans from across our country. - FF left to right: Pedro Zitha, OFM (General Assistant), Jewel Jasmins (National Formator), Françoise Malboeuf (Vice-Minister, Francophone regions), Michel David (International Councillor), Doug Clorey (National Minister), Marion Clorey(Vice-Minister, Anglophone regions), Harvey Levesque (Treasurer), Debbie Tessier (Secretary), Michel Janian (International Presidency Councillor), Peter Knappen, OFM Conv (National Assistant)
Michel David, ofs, Minister Regional Fraternity of Eastern Canada wrote; One of our Elders, Peter Jones ofs, has passed into the arms of the Eternal. Peter was the quiet type by nature, but his hearing loss also hampered his communication in later years. He and I had something in common and joked about it... Perfect Joy! in understanding meetings ( smile ). Thank you Peter for all your good works. Please lift up your prayers as one of our Saints joins the company of the Saints above. Tom Wilkinson wrote;
