Millane, Sister Pacelli (Mary Theresa) - July 22, 2021

Sister Pacelli (Mary Theresa) Millane was born on August 24, 1935 in Fairfield, Iowa, USA. She was the sixth of nine children born to Cecilia Agnes Arndt and John Francis Millane. She entered the monastery in Chicago at age 22 and made her solemn profession on October 19, 1962. She received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Empire State College, University of New York, and continued her studies with a Master's degree in Franciscan Studies from St. Bonaventure University before making her final move to the monastery in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield on September 17, 1998. During her monastic life, she held various positions including those of formation, liturgy, hospitality and library. She has accompanied many people on a spiritual level. She has participated in the International Congress of Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, where she has been invited to give several conferences over the years.

Sister Pacelli has also been involved in the Secular Franciscan Order where she has given formation sessions. A lover of Franciscan spirituality and a tireless researcher, she has written several articles for various magazines and has translated several books, the last of which is "Une absence ardente: approche de l'expérience de Dieu" by Thaddée Matura, ofm. In recent years she has given courses on Claretian spirituality to the friars in formation of our Franciscan province. She leaves us with the image of a dynamic woman who was always on the lookout for novelties in this field. Sister Pacelli passed away on July 22, 2021 at the age of 85 with 63 years of monastic life.
